Lava Rock is a porous, light weight natural rock that is red/brown in colour. It is inert so should not affect the chemisty of aquarium water.
As this is a natural product the size of the pieces vary although they are ususally less than 40cm is any dimension. For this reason it is priced by the kilogram and weighed in store.
Care should be taken when handling lava rock as it can have sharp edges.
