Longhorn Cowfish (Lactoria cornuta)

Maximum size:
40cm, rarely seen above 20cm.

Suggested minimum aquarium size when adult:
600 litres

Difficulty:
Easy-moderate

Feeding:
Will eat frozen Brineshrimp and Mysis, may take dried foods when settled. Needs frequent small feedings.

No, even small specimens will sooner or later start to pick at sessile invertebrates.

Compatibility:
Usually peaceful with similarly sized fish, avoid keeping with aggressive or fast moving fish.

Other information.
Cowfish have an external skeleton, this can make it difficult to detect starvation. Cowfish exude a toxin which could kill other fish, this is unlikely in a large well maintained aquarium, but take care not to transport them in the same container as other fish.

Our marine fish are hand picked from TMC and rested on our premises for at least 7 days and guaranteed feeding before being offered for sale.

All marine fish are only available for collection and payment in store. We are happy to reserve a fish in stock for up to 5 days. However, this will still be shown on our website until collected. Fish not collected within the specified period will be offered for sale without further notice.
