Circulation or stream pumps as they are sometimes known are an important part of a successful reef aquarium. They help eliminate dead spots, in these areas there is little if any water flow and detritus accumulates. Also vital for coral health, the water movement they provide removes waste products and supplies them with oxygen rich water. Nearly all reef aquariums and even some freshwater aquarium can benefit from additional water movement.
The Newave from Aquarium Systems is designed to produce maximum water movement with minimal outlay and running costs. The Newave 2000 uses just 2.7 watts of electricity but has a flow rate of 2200 litres per hour.
All models in the Newave range have a unique suction cup, that uses the same principle has those that attach sat navs to your windscreen, but still allows for the direction of water flow to be adjusted. Built in to this suction cup is a clever power cable guide that keeps the wire neat and tidy.
