Many aquarists advise 1kg (2.2lb) of live rock per gallon if you are using a natural system where the live rock provides the biological filtration. This should be used as a very rough guide as the weight and porosity of pieces is enormously variable. Instead we would suggest to fill at least ¼ of the visible area with live rock. The rock should be positioned to allow plenty of water flow through and around it. This will help prevent the accumulation of detritus.
